Exhibition in Cafe Kyiv

On 27 February 2023, the German online platform G.ART Gallery presented the exhibition “Hardened. The Ukrainian Phenomenon” as part of the “Cafe Kyiv – We Choose Freedom” campaign.

That day the famous Cafe Moskau in Berlin was transformed into Cafe Kyiv as a sign of solidarity with the warring Ukraine. Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organised a large-scale event: over 3000 visitors were welcomed on two floors and in 11 halls of the historic building.  Politicians, businessmen, writers, artists and musicians gathered to support Ukraine.

Cafe Kyiv hosted discussions and expert talks on Ukraine’s re-establishment as a member of the European family and master classes introducing Ukrainian culture and art. The participants were welcomed by Ukrainian Ambassador to Germany Oleksiy Makeyev, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Galyna Grygorenko, and other officials.

G.ART Gallery has been preparing for the day with great excitement. The project “Hardened. The Ukrainian Phenomenon” united contemporary Ukrainian women artists with one idea – to tell about the strength, courage and beauty of a Ukrainian woman through art. Talking, photographing, discussing the work, speaking about Ukraine – it was absolutely incredible! We were very happy that one of the project participants, Olexandra Fedoruk, was able to come from Kyiv.

At Cafe Kyiv we were delighted to meet Airlift, a charitable organisation founded by five Ukrainian students. This fast-growing start-up wants to raise funds to buy medicine for Ukrainian hospitals/orphanages and in that way save hundreds of innocent lives by using only talent and creativity.

Thank you to KAS and Cafe Kyiv for this wonderful, eventful day, for the opportunity to introduce Ukrainian art to the Berlin public and for the chance to meet new great friends. Thank you for your support of Ukraine!
